“Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path” – Psalms 119:105
When life seemed to go awry, we need someone that we can lay our hold upon. We don’t know and cannot know what lies ahead. We are not sure of the decisions that we made. Our troubled heart is like a voyager ship that is in the midst of tumultuous storm at the darkest night. Not sure what to do, only sure that remain still would sink the whole ship. Amidst the waves of doubt, we can only pray and focus on the eternal promises of God, in which His grace abounds. The Book of Psalms records that the word of God is like a beam of light thrown into our paths. A rock and fortress that protects us. The Word is the only thing that we can lay our trust upon. Jesus is the redeemer of our past, comfort for our present and assurance for future. The anchor of our heavy heart. The lighthouse that can safely guide our soul home. We can be sure about the faithfulness of God due to His extravagant demonstration of His love. Paul’s first letter to Corinthians said that we can be sure of our salvation for God gives us the victory over death.
